A Bibliometric Analysis on Poverty and Media Studies

Poverty is the inability of individuals to meet all or most of their basic needs to sustain their daily lives. Despite numerous proposed solutions throughout history for poverty, which is one of the greatest social and economic issues globally, the constantly evolving dynamics of societies have led to this situation becoming increasingly complex with each passing day. Therefore, combating poverty may require a multidimensional effort rather than a single dimension. Although this multidimensional effort is ultimately economic-based, it is crucial to consider it in conjunction with various factors such as social, political, cultural, educational, psychological, and even media influences. The aim of this research is to examine studies on media and poverty using bibliometric analysis method, and to contribute to the sustainability of discussions on media and poverty by identifying trends in research. In line with this objective, a total of 1491 research articles were included in the scope of the study, retrieved from the Web of Science (WOS) database, using the keywords “poverty” and “media” within the research subject, and limited to the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) indices. The bibliometric data obtained within the scope of the research was evaluated using graphs and visuals provided by the VOSviewer and Biblioshiny-R studio Bibliometrix package programs. Upon evaluation of the data obtained from the research, it was found that out of the 1491 research articles, 516 were authored by single authors and 975 were authored collaboratively. These articles were published in 1019 different journals by a total of 3789 authors. The results indicate that research on poverty and media has gained significance since 2020. Given that the subject of the research is poverty and media, researchers have predominantly used the keywords “poverty” (182) and “media” (79). These keywords are followed by “social media” (58), “covid-19” (39), and “inequality” (22). Additionally, the research reveals that the United States is the country with the highest number of conducted studies, with the most prolific authors being Mirjam Vossen, Van Gorp Baldwin, and Alem Adugnaw Zeleke. The highest number of the researches about poverty and media studies had been made by University of London in the United Kingdom. The journal with the most published articles is “Plos One,” and the countries with the most collaboration in this field are found to be the United States and the United Kingdom.

Meta-research on reporting guidelines for artificial intelligence: are authors and reviewers encouraged enough in radiology, nuclear medicine, and medical imaging journals?

To determine how radiology, nuclear medicine, and medical imaging journals encourage and mandate the use of reporting guidelines for artificial intelligence (AI) in their author and reviewer instructions. The primary source of journal information and associated citation data used was the Journal Citation Reports (June 2023 release for 2022 citation data; Clarivate Analytics, UK). The first- and second-quartile journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded and the Emerging Sources Citation Index were included. The author and reviewer instructions were evaluated by two independent readers, followed by an additional reader for consensus, with the assistance of automatic annotation. Encouragement and submission requirements were systematically analyzed. The reporting guidelines were grouped as AI-specific, related to modeling, and unrelated to modeling. Out of 102 journals, 98 were included in this study, and all of them had author instructions. Only five journals (5%) encouraged the authors to follow AI-specific reporting guidelines. Among these, three required a filled-out checklist. Reviewer instructions were found in 16 journals (16%), among which one journal (6%) encouraged the reviewers to follow AI-specific reporting guidelines without submission requirements. The proportions of author and reviewer encouragement for AI-specific reporting guidelines were statistically significantly lower compared with those for other types of guidelines (P < 0.05 for all). The findings indicate that AI-specific guidelines are not commonly encouraged and mandated (i.e., requiring a filled-out checklist) by these journals, compared with guidelines related to modeling and unrelated to modeling, leaving vast space for improvement. This meta-research study hopes to contribute to the awareness of the imaging community for AI reporting guidelines and ignite large-scale group efforts by all stakeholders, making AI research less wasteful. This meta-research highlights the need for improved encouragement of AI-specific guidelines in radiology, nuclear medicine, and medical imaging journals. This can potentially foster greater awareness among the AI community and motivate various stakeholders to collaborate to promote more efficient and responsible AI research reporting practices.

Abstract: Though population explosion is a major problem of the world today, infertility also exists and needs attention. Understanding reproductive health, the menstrual cycle, and adopting natural methods by couples can manage both fertility as well as infertility. During the preparation of the present review article, several search engines, such as Research Gate, Google Scholar, shodhganga, Scopus, emerging source citation index, chemical abstract services, academic journals database, open access medical journals, scirus, journal informatics, and various referred and nonreferred journals were used for the extraction of scientific information. Hence, this article has been prepared meticulously, which would help married couples in adopting an effective life plan for managing their reproductive activities. It explains about means of avoiding unwanted pregnancies using some naturally proven methods available. It also addresses issues related to infertility. Understanding ovulation symptoms and the fertile window is the key to determining the right time for intercourse in order to avoid or plan pregnancy. The ovulation technique uses the indicators of ovulation to determine the fertile window. A rise in body temperature and changes in cervical mucus (wet, clear, slippery) are the best indicators of ovulation. Understanding the concept of the fertile window enables women to strategically plan the timing of intercourse in order to either facilitate conception or prevent it.

Kalça artroskopı̇sı̇ ı̇le ı̇lgı̇lı̇ Türkçe lı̇teratür: bı̇blı̇yometrı̇k bı̇r yaklaşım

Aims: This study aimed to analyze research productivity and trends in Turkey using published articles on hip arthroscopy.&#x0D; Methods: Studies indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of the Web of Science (WoS) database from 1981 to 2023 have been examined. The analysis included the number of articles by year, country, institution, citation count, and journal of publication. Additionally, the Scopus database was analyzed for comparison.&#x0D; Results: Research revealed 35 articles in the WoS database and 115 articles in the Scopus database as of November 2023. In the WoS database (journals published in the ESCI and SCIE indexes), Turkey ranked 16th out of 64 countries, while in the Scopus database, Turkey ranked 13th.&#x0D; Conclusion: Compared to other countries, Turkey has a significantly low number of articles. However, the increase in publications aligns with the global trend.

In 2023, it will be ten years since the release of the first issue of our journal, “Golden Horde Review”. The decision to publish a special periodical was made by the Academic Council of the Marjani Institute of History of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences on April 16, 2013. During this past period of the journal’s activity, the editors managed to intensify research on the history of the Golden Horde and the Tatar Khanates, popularize Turkic-Tatar history at the international level, and introduce new sources into scientific circulation. From the first issues, the publication acquired a high degree of scientific inte­rest; the magazine has managed to gain popularity among a wide audience of researchers and interested readers. Over the ten years of its activity, the journal has received a worthy assessment from the Russian and international scientific community, has achieved high quality publications, and has consistently increased its rating in leading scientometric databases. The journal is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications of the Higher Attestation Commission for the publication of the main scientific results of dissertations. In 2017, the Golden Horde Review journal was included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) on the Web of Science Core Collection platform and the international SCOPUS database. The publication is also included in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Indexing in scientometric databases significantly increases the accessibility, popularity, and citations of the journal. Today, the scientific journal, “Golden Horde Review,” is one of the most popular and authoritative scientific publications among specialists in this field, as evidenced by the active participation of historians from many countries around the world in the scientific activities of the journal.

10 years of CARE guidelines in publishing case reports in paediatrics

Case reports, as an article type in the biomedical field, hold particular importance in paediatrics because it is the optimal way to present new or rare diseases or overlapping syndromes that are usually hard to diagnose clinically (Nissen et al, 2014). The CARE (CAse REport) guidelines are a tool that helps standardise reporting in case reports.Those guidelines were published in 2013 (Gagnier et al., 2013) with the purpose of supporting an increase in the accuracy, transparency, and usefulness of case reports. Given the stated, the aim of this presentation is to examine the actual use of the CARE guidelines in the paediatrics field journals.Using Pubmed and Web of Science databases, journals in the category of Clinical Medicine - Paediatrics were searched and their instructions for authors and selected published case reports were examined. Based on inclusion criteria journals that publish case reports were included in the study and screened for the CARE guidelines using the CARE checklist.A total of 184 journals met the criteria, 130 journals (71%) were in the SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded) category, while 54 journals (29%) were in the ESCI (the Emerging Sources Citation Index) paediatrics category. Most of the journals, 160 (87.5%) publish case reports, among them 44 journals (27.5%) mention the CARE guidelines in the instructions for authors. There were altogether 10,617 case reports published in 184 journals, of which 3527 in open access.Of the 44 journals that mention CARE guidelines, 27 journals (61%) are in the SCIE database category and 17 (39%) in the ESCI. There is a significant difference regarding the quartiles of SCIE journals that use CARE guidelines (p=0,041), the higher the quartile, the more journals that use the CARE guidelines (Q1=10; Q2=9; Q3=5; Q4=3).For the purpose of the oral presentation, authors will examine 10% of the available free full text case reports (except for the journals that have more than 100 case reports where 10 cases will be examined) and the expected sample size is 144. Two authors will check the compliance of randomly selected case reports with the CARE guidelines using the CARE checklist. As with every study, this one has certain limitations, as it is limited to the field of paediatrics and not all case reports can be examined as they are not available.

Transition to Sustainable Energy System for Smart Cities—Literature Review

The article will contain a scientific analysis, showing thematic links between publications and consist of searching the data in the Scopus database. The timeframe of the searched publications will be 2010–2022. The parameters should also be narrowed down by selecting the following indexes: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E), Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) and Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), which was intended to eliminate abstracts of books and conference materials, leaving only reviewed works with the highest level of relevance for furthering knowledge. An additional limit of five minimum citations will be introduced. The analysis included 342 articles. Texts cited at least 100 times were highlighted. The research showed that authors focus piecemeal on selected aspects or problems, so an attempt was made to show thematic connections of keywords, illustrating the complexity of the transformations underway. The discussion identifies the most active authors and countries, especially exploring the topic of a transition to a sustainable energy system for smart cities. The authors have employed scientometric analysis to provide an objective and data-driven exploration of the transformation of sustainable energy systems for smart cities. This approach offers valuable insights into the research landscape, trends, and relationships within the field, which can guide future scientific research and contribute to a deeper understanding of the subject matter. As an additional element of this conclusion, the authors proposed supplementing the scientometric analysis with the foresight methodology. The authors’ research approach is distinguished by the following stages: problem formulation, data collection, choice of scientometric methodology, analysis of advantages and limitations of scientometrics, clustering analysis, data analysis, and presentation of results. Our systematic literature review systematizes the existing literature on the sustainable energy systems for smart cities, isolates main research interests, identifies future research avenues, and provides several important hints for researchers.

Bibliometric Approach to Total Hip Arthroplasty Literature Originating from Turkey

Objectives: The aim of this study is to analyze research productivity in Turkey using published articles on total hip arthroplasty.&#x0D; Material and methods: All scientific articles published in English in the Science Citation Index Expanded and the Emerging Sources Citation Index between 1970 and 2023 were analyzed using "Web of Science". The number of articles, authors, institutions, and the 30 most frequently cited articles were analyzed. In addition, the Scopus database was also analyzed with the same method for making comparisons. Visualization was also done with Vosviewer tool. &#x0D; Results: As a result of the study, we found 190 articles in the WOS database and 485 articles in the Scopus database, until the end of March 2023. according to the WOS database (journals published in ESCI and SCIE indexes), Turkey ranked 15th among 108 countries. According to the Scopus database, Turkey ranked 22nd.&#x0D; Conclusion: Scholars can help clarify the history of Turkish literature on THA by using the study's data summary. We discovered 190 articles in the WOS database and 485 articles in the Scopus database as a consequence of the research up until the end of March 2023. In comparison to other countries, the quantity of articles was remarkably low.

This year 2023, we are pleased to announce that it has entered the third quartile in SJR’s Architecture area (Scimago Journal &amp; Country Rank). We hope that, with everyone’s joint work, the journal will continue to improve its impact and reach. As new editors, we wish to emphasize our commitment to the importance of research in the fields of design and construction of the built environment, from a local perspective and close to the reality of the Global South. The Global South is a concept developed by the German economist Willy Brandt in the 1980s. It is used to describe the economic, political, and social differences between the countries of the northern hemisphere (known as the Global North) and a group of countries and regions located mainly in the southern hemisphere, especially in Africa, Asia, and Latin America."

A systematic review of Spanish academic production in the field of social work

Summary This article is a systematic review of the Spanish scientific production in social work hosted in the Web of Science. Findings The article analyzes the current state of social work research in Spain. Since the creation of the European Higher Education Area, Spanish social work has had to meet university research requirements, including the publication of papers in journals indexed in the world's leading databases. Spanish scientific production is analyzed from its beginnings until 2020. The main findings were that most of such research that was published by Spanish social work academic was in Spanish, while other categories of authors, such as nonsocial work Spanish academic, publish more in English. Spanish-language journals were mostly indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), while those in English were in Journal Citation Reports (JCR) or Scopus, consistently receiving few citations. Women as main authors exceeded men in percentages of indexed articles. Bibliometric quality measures constructed with Scopus were slightly better than those with JCR. The most developed topics in the area were general and transversal issues such as immigration, social services, social intervention, and social policies. Applications The study demonstrates to Spanish social work researchers that they have greater likelihood of obtaining better quality indexes if they publish in English in JCR- and Scopus-indexed journals, resulting in enhanced academic career visibility.

The Landscape of Technology Research in Special Education: A Bibliometric Analysis

This study analyzes information accumulated in WoS databases on special education and technology with bibliometric methods. Bibliometric analyses, seen as an alternative to systematic literature reviews, meta-analysis, and meta-synthesis, contribute to determining essential actors in the field by analyzing the publication and citation trends, the stage of the research topic, and trends in the volume of publications. Furthermore, bibliometric analysis can reveal the collaboration structure between institutions and authors and identify the most frequently studied topics, top-producing authors, institutions, and journals in a field. In the study, we analyzed 4493 articles published in Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Social Sciences Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded), and Arts &amp; Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) databases using the co-authorship and co-occurrence analysis method. Also, we used frequency analysis in publications and citations related to special education and technology research to determine the situation. The main findings of the research are that the literature on the use of technology in special education: (a) has grown steadily over the years, particularly since 2003; (b) research topic foci have changed over the years; (c) articles are published in different journals, particularly special education journals; (d) produced by authors from a wide variety of countries; and (e) published by research groups with limited contact with other research groups.

Behavioral Factors Affecting Household Over-Indebtedness: A Systematic Review

Household over-indebtedness is a significant issue in many parts of the world and has extremely detrimental socioeconomic effects. Separate studies have found that macroeconomic, demographic, and behavioral factors account for the majority of the variance in household over-indebtedness; however, behavioral components have received less attention. The purpose of this study is to review the behavioral factors that affect household over-indebtedness. To identify relevant empirical studies on household over-indebtedness, databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Emerging Sources Citation Index, and Social Sciences Citation Index were reviewed. During this search, 267 articles were initially screened, but the PRISMA framework (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) was applied to select the most appropriate, well-cited, and recent 52 articles. The most significant behavioral factors of household over-indebtedness are financial literacy, risk perception, materialism, and emotions. This review reveals that behavioral factors have not been well established in many developing economies whereas the empirical findings in developed countries are consistent with behavioral theories. Further, this paper discloses that interaction of macroeconomic, demographic, and behavioral determinants on household over-indebtedness still needs further study. According to Keynes' general theory, individual financial decisions are influenced by macroeconomic circumstances. Moreover, Ando and Modigliani's life cycle hypothesis contends that demographic factors significantly influence individuals’ financial behavior. Our suggested conceptual model contains macroeconomic and demographic factors as mediators and moderators, respectively, between behavioral factors and household over-indebtedness. Once this model is tested, the findings may greatly aid governments, central banks, financial institutions, bank managers, credit officers, and other policymakers in their quest to discover answers to the problem of household over-indebtedness.&#x0D; Keywords: Household Over-Indebtedness, Financial Literacy, Risk Perception, Materialism, Emotions, Macroeconomic and Demographic Factors

A Scoping Review of Simulation-Based Training Paradigms for Carotid Artery Endarterectomy and Carotid Artery Stenting

Surgical simulation has come to the forefront to enhance the training of residents. The aim of our scoping review is to analyze the available simulation-based carotid revascularization techniques, including carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS) and suggest critical steps for evaluating competency in a standardized fashion. A scoping review of all reports on simulation-based carotid revascularization techniques including CEA and CAS was performed in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane, Science Citation Index Expanded, Emerging Sources Citation Index, and Epistemonikos databases. Data were collected according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis guidelines. The English language literature was searched from January 1, 2000 to January 9, 2022. The outcomes evaluated included measures of assessment of operator performance. Five CEA and 11 CAS manuscripts were included in this review. The methods of assessments employed by these studies to judge performance were comparable. The 5 CEA studies sought to validate and demonstrate improved performance with training or distinguish surgeons by their experience level, either through assessing operative performance or end-product results. The 11 CAS studies used 1 of 2 types of commercial simulators and focused on determining the efficacy of simulators as teaching tools. By examining the steps of the procedure associated with preventable perioperative complications, it provides a reasonable framework for determining which elements of the procedure should be emphasized most. Furthermore, using potential errors as a basis for assessment of competency could reliably distinguish operators based on level of experience. Competency-based simulation training is becoming more relevant as our surgical training paradigm shifts with the increased scrutiny within training programs of work-hour regulations and the need to develop a curriculum to assess our trainees' ability to perform specific operations competently during their stipulated training period. Our review has given us an insight into the current efforts in this space regarding 2 specific procedures that are key for all vascular surgeons to master. Although many competency-based modules are available, there is a lack of standardization in the grading/rating system of what surgeons consider vital steps of each procedure to assess these simulation-based modules. Therefore, the next steps of curriculum development should be based on standardization efforts for the different protocols available.

Spanish research on Communication in WoS: thematic, methodological, and intellectual comparison between SSCI and ESCI

This study analyses the thematic and conceptual structure of the Spanish scientific production published in Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science) journals. In this way, the aim is to identify the closest links between concepts and terms based on the co-occurrence of keywords used by the authors of the papers analysed, and also to point out the theoretical foundations that exist in the discipline through the co-citation relationships of articles in the bibliography of the documents in the sample. Finally, these results were compared with those obtained from the analysis of Spanish scientific production in Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). To achieve these objectives, a network analysis of the co-occurrence of keywords and co-citation of references in articles published in Communication journals between 2015 and 2021 in ESCI (N = 3,559) and SSCI (N = 1,738) with at least one author linked to a Spanish institution was carried out. The results point to similar structural cohesion values and to a thematic and methodological similarity between both sets observed. There is a marked tendency towards quantitative studies on new technologies. While in SSCI there is an almost absolute dominance of Journalism studies, in ESCI there is a greater diversity of other disciplines such as Audiovisual Communication or Advertising. However, the intellectual structure of the production in SSCI reflects a more specialised character than in ESCI.

In this report, we summarize the Journal of the American College of Emergency Physicians Open (JACEP Open)’s performance and accomplishments for 2022. JACEP Open began accepting and publishing manuscripts in 2019. JACEP Open was accepted for inclusion in PubMed Central in October 2020, and all articles are now indexed in PubMed. In addition, in April 2021 the journal was accepted to the Clarivate Web of Science for coverage in the Emerging Sources Citation Index, which is an important first step toward achieving an impact factor. The journal is presently listed or indexed with the Directory of Open Access Journals, PubMed, Europe PubMed, Google Scholar, Embase (Elsevier, Inc.), SCOPUS, and SHERPA/RoMEO. The journal received over 475 manuscripts in 2022 (Table 1). The decline in submissions is consistent with industry trends. Original research, brief reports, reviews, and concepts pieces comprised approximately one half of all submissions. Case reports and Images in Emergency Medicine comprised the remaining one half of submissions. Approximately 31% of submissions originated from outside the United States, and 270 (54%) manuscripts were transferred from JACEP Open’s companion journal, Annals of Emergency Medicine. The journal's acceptance rate was 41% for scientific works (original research, brief reports, systematic reviews, reviews, and concepts papers) (Table 2). The journal's 97 accepted scientific works spanned a range of topic areas (Table 3). Accepted manuscripts included authors from 13 different countries. The journal continued to encourage the submission of COVID-19 works by waiving the article publication fee. In 2022 the journal published a total of 18 COVID-19 papers, including 13 original research, 2 brief research reports, and 2 systematic review/meta-analyses. JACEP Open’s editorial and production processes continue to meet rapid internal benchmarks (Table 4). As an open access journal, all JACEP Open content is fully accessible to all without a subscription fee. During 2022 there were a total of 312,998 full-text accesses of JACEP Open articles. Table 5 summarizes the journal's most accessed articles. Individuals from 219 countries accessed JACEP Open articles; the international countries with the highest number of full text accesses were the United Kingdom, China, and India. To date, JACEP Open publications have been cited 1300 times by biomedical journals index in the Clarivate Web of Science (webofscience.com). ACEP promoted JACEP Open using multiple outlets. JACEP Open research and thought leadership was featured 540 times in leading publications. News stories were generated in mainstream media outlets such as the Associated Press, HealthDay, Newsweek, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, US News and World Report, and Buffalo News (Table 6). JACEP Open promotes the journal through social media outlets including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The Twitter account received 113,674 impressions (Table 7). The journal has 655 followers on Twitter. The Instagram account is used to promote the journal's new Videos in Emergency Medicine section. The current editorial board includes 47 editors, including 19 women, and 5 international editors. In 2022 we recruited 6 new editors and promoted one editor to senior editor. We also recruited 4 new assistant editors; this program allows early-stage academicians to enter the editorial board under the mentorship of more experienced editors and helps the journal to maintain depth and diversity. Three individuals serve as methodology-statistical editors, assuring expert assessment of all original research manuscripts with more advanced statistical and analytic methods. Currently, there are over 664 individuals in JACEP Open’s pool of primary reviewers. Through connections with Annals of Emergency Medicine and Wiley publishing, JACEP Open has access to an additional 1200 peer reviewers. In 2022, JACEP Open peer reviewers completed 478 assignments. JACEP Open recognized the top 20 peer reviewers for 2022 (Table 9). In conjunction with Wiley, Inc., JACEP Open began offering continuing medical education credits to all peer reviewers. The journal also created a new section of the journal website with resources for training and on-boarding new peer reviewers, which can be found here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/26881152/homepage/reviewer-guidelines. Members of JACEP Open editorial board partnered with members of the Annals of Emergency Medicine editorial board to provide an author's workshop, titled “Editors’ Pearls,” at the 2022 ACEP Scientific Assembly. The workshop provided guidance and pearls for successful biomedical publishing. In the spring and summer of 2022, Editorial Board members conducted a series of meetings to reflect on the journal's origins, early progress, and future directions. The discussions identified several strategic goals. JACEP Open aims to serve as emergency medicine's premier open access journal, publishing a full range of articles exemplifying the best science in emergency medicine. In addition to retaining traditional article genres, JACEP Open will explore newer, more succinct formats that better align with digital platforms, for example, brief reports and research letters. The journal has reduced word count limits across all article categories to achieve a more concise style. We will work with the publisher to maintain article publication charges at competitive levels. JACEP Open will continue to provide a forum for publishing the work products of ACEP committees and task force work groups. The journal has worked with ACEP leadership to craft peer review and publication pathways for these works, as well as systems for covering associated article processing charges. Future efforts will focus on streamlining the ACEP committee paper process, including clarifying criteria for publication, aligning the genres of articles, and aiding writing committees with article conceptualization and development. JACEP Open expects to receive its first impact factor rating in 2023. Optimizing the impact factor is critical to the journal's reputation and success. We expect to adjust editorial processes to select well-written manuscripts with a high likelihood of citation. To enhance the journal's global presence, JACEP Open will also continue efforts to engage with international authors and readers, including the recruitment of additional international editors and peer reviewers. Social media is critical for publicizing the journal and its articles and is particularly important given JACEP Open’s common access through internet search engines. We aim to expand the JACEP Open social media team, enhancing our ability to increase the tempo of social media posts to better spotlight the unique content of the journal. To ensure that the journal can maintain the highest quality of editorial decision making, we plan to continue expanding the editorial board of JACEP Open to match the increasing volume of submissions. We will continue to leverage the highly successful assistant editor program to recruit and develop new talent in the board, with continued attention to recruiting international editors. We will also continue efforts to expand the journal's pool of reviewers. Growing the journal's author pool is a continued priority. We will strive to maintain the journal's reputation for rapid peer view and collegial editorial experience. The release of the journal's impact factor in 2023 will likely boost awareness of the journal and the number of submissions. We will also continue to identify opportunities for synergy between JACEP Open and its partner journal Annals of Emergency Medicine, building upon the current processes for transferring manuscripts. We aim to continue emphasizing JACEP Open's unique position relative to Annals, allowing both journals to complement each other. Aimed at leading diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts throughout the journal community and its editorial processes, JACEP Open's DEI policy is available at https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/26881152/homepage/deistatement. JACEP Open supports ongoing DEI initiatives, including efforts to determine the demographic characteristics of editorial board members, peer reviewers and authors, continued double-blind peer review, and continued outreach to the international audiences. We will also continue to offer editorial support and assistance to international authors.

Remdesivir for the treatment of COVID-19.

Remdesivir is an antiviral medicine approved for the treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This led to widespread implementation, although the available evidence remains inconsistent. This update aims to fill current knowledge gaps by identifying, describing, evaluating, and synthesising all evidence from randomised controlled trials (RCTs) on the effects of remdesivir on clinical outcomes in COVID-19. To assess the effects of remdesivir and standard care compared to standard care plus/minus placebo on clinical outcomes in patients treated for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. We searched the Cochrane COVID-19 Study Register (which comprises the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed, Embase, ClinicalTrials.gov, World Health Organization (WHO) International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, and medRxiv) as well as Web of Science (Science Citation Index Expanded and Emerging Sources Citation Index) and WHO COVID-19 Global literature on coronavirus disease to identify completed and ongoing studies, without language restrictions. We conducted the searches on 31 May 2022. We followed standard Cochrane methodology. We included RCTs evaluating remdesivir and standard care for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared to standard care plus/minus placebo irrespective of disease severity, gender, ethnicity, or setting. We excluded studies that evaluated remdesivir for the treatment of other coronavirus diseases. We followed standard Cochrane methodology. To assess risk of bias in included studies, we used the Cochrane RoB 2 tool for RCTs. We rated the certainty of evidence using the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation) approach for outcomes that were reported according to our prioritised categories: all-cause mortality, in-hospital mortality, clinical improvement (being alive and ready for discharge up to day 28) or worsening (new need for invasive mechanical ventilation or death up to day 28), quality of life, serious adverse events, and adverse events (any grade). We differentiated between non-hospitalised individuals with asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection or mild COVID-19 and hospitalised individuals with moderate to severe COVID-19. We included nine RCTs with 11,218 participants diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection and a mean age of 53.6 years, of whom 5982 participants were randomised to receive remdesivir. Most participants required low-flow oxygen at baseline. Studies were mainly conducted in high- and upper-middle-income countries. We identified two studies that are awaiting classification and five ongoing studies. Effects of remdesivir in hospitalised individuals with moderate to severe COVID-19 With moderate-certainty evidence, remdesivir probably makes little or no difference to all-cause mortality at up to day 28 (risk ratio (RR) 0.93, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.81 to 1.06; risk difference (RD) 8 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 21 fewer to 6 more; 4 studies, 7142 participants), day 60 (RR 0.85, 95% CI 0.69 to 1.05; RD 35 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 73 fewer to 12 more; 1 study, 1281 participants), or in-hospital mortality at up to day 150 (RR 0.93, 95% CI 0.84 to 1.03; RD 11 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 25 fewer to 5 more; 1 study, 8275 participants). Remdesivir probably increases the chance of clinical improvement at up to day 28 slightly (RR 1.11, 95% CI 1.06 to 1.17; RD 68 more per 1000, 95% CI 37 more to 105 more; 4 studies, 2514 participants; moderate-certainty evidence). It probably decreases the risk of clinical worsening within 28 days (hazard ratio (HR) 0.67, 95% CI 0.54 to 0.82; RD 135 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 198 fewer to 69 fewer; 2 studies, 1734 participants, moderate-certainty evidence). Remdesivir may make little or no difference to the rate of adverse events of any grade (RR 1.04, 95% CI 0.92 to 1.18; RD 23 more per 1000, 95% CI 46 fewer to 104 more; 4 studies, 2498 participants; low-certainty evidence), or serious adverse events (RR 0.84, 95% CI 0.65 to 1.07; RD 44 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 96 fewer to 19 more; 4 studies, 2498 participants; low-certainty evidence). We considered risk of bias to be low, with some concerns for mortality and clinical course. We had some concerns for safety outcomes because participants who had died did not contribute information. Without adjustment, this leads to an uncertain amount of missing values and the potential for bias due to missing data. Effects of remdesivir in non-hospitalised individuals with mild COVID-19 One of the nine RCTs was conducted in the outpatient setting and included symptomatic people with a risk of progression. No deaths occurred within the 28 days observation period. We are uncertain about clinical improvement due to very low-certainty evidence. Remdesivir probably decreases the risk of clinical worsening (hospitalisation) at up to day 28 (RR 0.28, 95% CI 0.11 to 0.75; RD 46 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 57 fewer to 16 fewer; 562 participants; moderate-certainty evidence). We did not find any data for quality of life. Remdesivir may decrease the rate of serious adverse events at up to 28 days (RR 0.27, 95% CI 0.10 to 0.70; RD 49 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 60 fewer to 20 fewer; 562 participants; low-certainty evidence), but it probably makes little or no difference to the risk of adverse events of any grade (RR 0.91, 95% CI 0.76 to 1.10; RD 42 fewer per 1000, 95% CI 111 fewer to 46 more; 562 participants; moderate-certainty evidence). We considered risk of bias to be low for mortality, clinical improvement, and safety outcomes. We identified a high risk of bias for clinical worsening. Based on the available evidence up to 31 May 2022, remdesivir probably has little or no effect on all-cause mortality or in-hospital mortality of individuals with moderate to severe COVID-19. The hospitalisation rate was reduced with remdesivir in one study including participants with mild to moderate COVID-19. It may be beneficial in the clinical course for both hospitalised and non-hospitalised patients, but certainty remains limited. The applicability of the evidence to current practice may be limited by the recruitment of participants from mostly unvaccinated populations exposed to early variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus at the time the studies were undertaken. Future studies should provide additional data on the efficacy and safety of remdesivir for defined core outcomes in COVID-19 research, especially for different population subgroups.

Article‐level Metrics, Transparency and Open Research

Dear Readers, It has been another great year for Advanced Energy and Sustainability Research. In early 2022 we were pleased to learn that the journal was accepted into the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) from Clarivate, and that the whole publication record dating back to 2020 would be added to the Web of Science. This is still an important step for a young journal, because it greatly increases the visibility of its published papers. Also, many institutions demand scientific manuscripts to be submitted to indexed journals only, so indexing can help to attract submissions. Later in 2022, Clarivate announced that all journals listed in the ESCI in a given year will automatically receive an Impact Factor in the following year, without the additional evaluation step they previously required. As you will know, it is an average of the citations in a given year for all relevant articles published in the two previous years. It therefore has some meaning on a journal level, but it does not reflect the usage and impact of an individual article. To better measure individual article performance, new metrics have been developed to reflect how articles are used and shared across different media, e.g., via tweets and so on. The move away from the Impact Factor as the sole metric for the evaluation of scientific research output is also a strong motivator behind the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). Wiley became a signatory of DORA in 2022, which means that we are emphasizing the Impact Factor less in our communications and working to broaden out to other article-level metrics. Of course, we know that the Impact Factor is still important to many authors, and we continue to monitor these developments. Last year, we introduced a workflow to notify reviewers at Advanced Energy and Sustainability Research and its sister journals of the editorial decision for the manuscript they reviewed, immediately when the decision is made. The other, anonymized, reviewer reports for that manuscript are also shared with them. This gives our reviewers valuable insight into their peers’ evaluation and additional guidance as to the journal's standards. The feedback we have received from our reviewers indicates they are appreciative not just of the information provided in the notification, but also how it acknowledges the important contribution they make to upholding our stringent requirements. You may have seen our Data Reporting Checklists: cover sheets that are a part of our submission process for original research articles. With input from expert researchers, each checklist indicates what we consider the absolute minimum parameters that should be reported in manuscripts for a particular field of research. These cover sheets assist authors to understand data reporting expectations and guide their manuscript preparation, as well as aiding reviewers during manuscript evaluation. Currently, we have checklists available for research involving the performance/stability of solar cells, batteries, or supercapacitors; additional checklists for other research areas are under development. In future, for all manuscripts accepted in Advanced Energy and Sustainability Research and its relevant sister journals, these checklists will be published along with the Supporting Information files. The industry-wide move towards Open Research, including Open Access, puts us in a constantly changing environment. One recent development is the emergence of Transformational Agreements (TAs). These institute- or consortia-level agreements not only allow researchers at participating institutions unlimited read access to a publisher's journal portfolio, but also enable them to publish all their work Open Access in those journals. So far, this has meant that the costs for publishing an article Open Access in a so-called hybrid journal were covered; publishing in gold Open Access journals has not been fully covered in many TAs. However, the last years have seen a strong growth of gold Open Access titles, through new launches and because more and more hybrid journals are “flipping” to gold OA. In this regard, it will be interesting to see how TAs develop. We are hopeful that in future more TAs will also cover the cost of publishing in gold Open Access journals, as this will give authors more choice when deciding where to submit their best work. Finally, we would like to present the Best of Advanced 2022 collection, a selection of some of the most outstanding articles published in 2022 in our prestigious Advanced family of journals and chosen by our editors. The growing portfolio publishes research across interdisciplinary fields, from Materials Science, Energy, and Technology to Physics, Healthcare, and Life Sciences. Sustainable manufacturing adoption in textile industries: A systematic state‐of‐art literature review and future research outline

AbstractThe objective of this study is to investigate and review the sustainable manufacturing (SM) adoption research conducted in textile industries, from 2007 to May 2022. The search term is “SM adoption in the textile industry” in their phrases and titles. Find the number of dimensions including publishing years, country, journal, publishing houses, research design, methods, data analysis, and MCDM methods. This study attempts to provide an overview of the 172 articles, which have been searched with the keyword “SM adoption in the textile industry” in the phrases and the title. The articles were searched from world‐renowned publishers, such as Elsevier, Taylor &amp; Francis, Wiley, Emerald, Inderscience, Springer link publication, and so forth. The articles searched are peer‐reviewed and included in Scopus, science citation index, science citation index expanded, emerging source citation index, web of science, and so forth. The categorization of the data of the current study has also been compared with available literature. These studies are mainly focused on ecological protection, eco‐friendly textile materials, effective land, and water utilization, social, as well as saving natural resources. SM adoption is the key initiative needed for a better environment, human life, and sustainability. This study enhances the understanding of current benefits of cutting‐edge research and what dimensions need to be examined for adoption of SM in the textile industry. This study also provides a discussion on various gaps and future opportunities that require to be addressed for a better understanding of SM adoption in the textile manufacturing sector.
